Frequently asked questions Hide FAQs
How does the GP Tech V4 Leather Suit fit, and how should I choose my size?
The GP Tech V4 Leather Suit has a race fit with a highly pre-curved body, arms and knees, designed around the riding position. Extended Kevlar® stretch panels at the chest, inner arms, crotch and back of the legs support movement on the bike.
The Black Blue Yellow Fluo variant is listed in sizes 44–58, in two-size increments. Compare your measurements with the Alpinestars size guide and check the fit with your intended base layers and compatible airbag system, following that system’s fitting instructions.
Which Tech-Air® airbag systems are compatible with the GP Tech V4?
The GP Tech V4 Leather Suit is listed as compatible with the Tech-Air® 10 Race Airbag System, Tech-Air® 7X System and Tech-Air® 5 Plasma System. Its engineered fit accommodates Tech-Air® 10’s extended hip protection, and a slot on the left forearm holds that system’s wireless LED display.
Follow the selected airbag system’s instructions for sizing, installation and required deployment space.
What CE protection rating and armor does the GP Tech V4 Leather Suit have?
The GP Tech V4 is a fully CE-certified Category II riding garment to EN 17092, Class AAA. This is the garment’s protection classification, not an individual impact protector’s CE level.
Its protective package includes GP DFS armor, internal race-spec GP-R Lite armor, Bio-Flex Race hip armor and replaceable elbow sliders.
How does the GP Tech V4 Leather Suit manage airflow and heat during track riding?
The GP Tech V4 combines breathable MATRYX® structural panels with strategic perforations on the arms and legs to promote airflow. Its PU-covered MATRYX® lower-leg construction also supports ventilation and freedom of movement.
Cool-iR Tech treatment embedded in the leather reflects infrared radiation from sunlight to help limit heat build-up. Kevlar® reinforcement in the MATRYX® construction helps reduce heat transfer.
Is the GP Tech V4 Leather Suit made entirely from kangaroo leather?
No. The GP Tech V4 combines kangaroo leather in high-flex areas, including the arms, hips and abdomen, with race-grade bovine leather. It also uses lightweight MATRYX® structural panels on the thighs, abdomen, chest and back hump for ventilation and resistance to tearing and abrasion.
This mixed-material construction balances weight, strength and mobility for racing and sport riding; it is not an all-kangaroo-leather suit.
