FAQs
The standard Tech 7 is designed for MX racing: stiffer sole compound, no waterproofing, optimised for supple motocross track conditions. The Tech 7 Enduro Drystar adds the Drystar® waterproof membrane in the inner bootie, a softer front flex zone for walking and mixed terrain use, an enduro-spec dual-compound sole with replaceable elements, and an expanded calf adjustment range. It is the correct choice for riders who face variable terrain and weather across a single ride.
Unlike touring jacket applications where Drystar® is bonded to the outer shell, in the Tech 7 Enduro the membrane is integrated into the inner bootie — the secondary layer inside the outer microfiber shell. This positions the waterproofing close to the foot for maximum effectiveness in immersive conditions (stream crossings, deep mud), while the outer shell absorbs abrasion. The result is 100% waterproof performance that survives the mechanical stress of off-road riding.
The biomechanical pivot is a dual TPU lateral structure connecting the upper and lower panels of the boot. During a fall or impact, this system absorbs and redirects torsional (rotational) forces away from the ankle joint — the most common injury mechanism in enduro crashes. During normal riding and walking, the same structure allows controlled forward flex. It is the key element that distinguishes the Tech 7's ankle protection from passive foam padding.
Yes — both the outer sole and the footpeg contact area are designed to be replaceable. For enduro riders covering significant rocky terrain, this is a meaningful cost-of-ownership advantage: the sole unit can be replaced rather than the entire boot. Alpinestars recommends consulting an authorised service centre for sole replacement to ensure structural integrity is maintained.
